I want something I can carry, and have fun with. I'd get the service model if I didn't thin it would be a pain to carry all the time.

Plus the XD and M&P are in my price range.

the Para I linked to has 12 round mags....

but I digress, it looks like a toss up !
What is the price diff in the place you plan on buying?
(no GRoPA makes me sad )
Whats the diff in mag prices ?
Does the MP have extended mags like the XD ?

One thing to think on that I debated before I decided to go with another Wilson. The full size XD can have the grip cut down to sc size. Its the grip length that really matters as far as carry size. Then the extended mags will make it a for real full size. You can have it done professionally from Springer precision for $75 + ship but there is nothing IN the mag, no mainsprings or anything. So theorectically it could be done at home with some care......

The mags I found for XD's were running around $20 and the mags for M&P's were around $30 and harder to find. Others may know of better prices. Yes the M&P has extended mags, but they're more like "pinky" mags. They don't support the back of your hand as well.

I really really like the M&P better. Despite some of the drawbacks. (not many)

I found the XD locally for $509 and the M&P for $519

I found a m&P on buds for $430 and XD's are running about $460 last I looked.

I really hate to order a gun if I could just go pick it up, but the difference between $430 and $519 is enough i'm considering it.

did you look at that link and consider cutting the grip on a full size XD ?

I really think thats a great option, plus ballistics out of the longer barrel are much much better.

Yeah, that's an option. I may have the balls to do that myself, but I don't know. I haven't bought a gun in a few years and it would be a shame to screw it up.

Damn you shawn! I thought i made up my mind and here you go throwing other options at me

That is pretty damn cool, and I do love the XD service. I think it loses something in the compact. It's a bit top-heavy, and blocky. The longer slide seems to balance that out.

Ok, another option on the list. I am a fan of compact guns though.

My wife bought an XD9sc, I like it. I'm not real crazy about the safety in the trigger thing, which is why I wouldn't carry a Glock, but it has a grip safety also. I carried it when I had to send my Kahr in for a new trigger bar.

I liked the larger mag capacity but I still prefer my CW9 due to the weight and thinness. I'm used to the longer trigger pull of the CW9 too.

I have no experience with the M&P9C.

Bill

Colagrrl has two M&P compacts and loves them. Hell, I love them. I still have about 5 days to make up my mind.

I gets my moneyz

I'm waiting a disability check. I haven't been paid in over a month and have a nice lump sum coming. I'm going to take a part of it and buy a new gun. I haven't done that in almost 3 years.
