Question S&W M&P 45

So I was at the local fun shop again today and I decided to have them pull out the M&P. Now this is a pistol I had never considered owning for various reasons, and upon holding for the first time I realised how stupid I was for not considering it. It felt great in my hand and was WAY more balanced then the top heavy FN45. So guys bfore I do finally decide on my next purchase I must ask what yall think about them. Because seriously shelling out 500 bucks or whatever the price tag said (was too in shock to really notice) is way better then shelling out 1000 for an HK or 800 for an FN. Oh yeah I held the the BLOCK 21 and it was like holding a big square blck plastic turd.

M&P is a great choice. I have the M&P 9, and I love it. The second I picked up, I was sold also. I would have gotten the 45, but I was looking for a 9, and she fit the bill perfectly with her 17 round mags and extremely comfortable feel. Get it! you won't be sorry.

I am not a Glock fan either, but that square plastic turd remark will definitely cost you with this group.....I hope you are ready.

I own an M&P 9mm and the M&P 45 but haven't shot the 45 yet. I very much like the 9mm so I can't imagine what's not to like about the 45.

I don't like the factory trigger but the gunsmiths that are doing M&P trigger work use the OEM components and the cost is very reasonable. I wouldn't want an M&P without a burwell or bowie trigger job.

The M&P is not technologically groundbreaking. IOW it is "glock-ish" but the trigger issue aside, IMO it is certainly superior to the glock WRT ergonomics.

The 45 was the second of the M&P's i picked up and I don't regret it at all.

I own 3 M&P's and love this line.

If someone wants to rag on me for thinking the Glock 21 is uncomfortable and unweildy then let em... Actually I've kinda been hoping that someone would call me out on the whole furry thing.

Anyway in the short 3 years since I've turned 21 I have owned a lot of pistols. Ranging from classic 1911's (taurus and Springfield) to some oddballs like a calico 9mm and an early tec-9. but I honestly never could find the gun that suits me. I got real damned close with my PT 24/7 pro in 45 but its not perfect. In fact I'm going to trade it in towards the S&W.

How is it for carrying? I mean my 1911's were too big and the numerous .380's I've had never gave me the peace of mind that a .45 does. I saw the 24/7 as a compromise (note that I really dont like subcompacts or even compacts for that matter) but it still profiles too much due to its thickness. The S&W is a little thinner and a tiny bit lighter then i.

I have to admit the g21 is a huge gun, but one thing Im sure of is that It will out last and out perform the m&p and any copycats to come.......manufacturers could try really hard, but perfection can't be copied.

The Glock 21 is big...no 2 ways about it. I have big hands, and can shoot it comfortably...but I still don't care for it. It doesn't make it a turd, just cumbersome.

The M&P .45 has a heavier trigger than the other models do...this is definitely a model that benefits from some trigger work.

I had Burwell do my trigger in my M&P 9 and the end result was wonderful. That said, between my journey to get there, along with many of the field reports....I'd pay the extra money and have Bowie do it, if the gun was for serious use.

The HK45 is 1 the HK (current production) I think might be worth the money. These days, if you're shying away from a .45 due to cost...you're probably not gonna have the money to shoot it much, anyway. .45 is expensive to shoot....don't skimp on the gun though.

The S&W M&P is a great gun. You will really like the way it shoots. Trigger jobs are simple, and no after market parts are required. I own the full size 9mm and the 9mm Compact. Love them both, and would never go back to Glock.

Just buy it and be happy.

I wish I could just buy it and be happy but for some reason lately I've been doing a lot more thinking about my gun purchases. In the past I would just buy a gun based off looks. Well, several purchases later after so much disapointment I find that if I'm going to buy a gun I need to be absolutely happy with it both ergonomically and performance wise. Which is why my collection has dwindled to the point where I have a bolt action sporterized M1917 and my Taurus PT 24/7. Because I've suddenly become picky. Then again I guess its better to have 3 or 4 guns that are just right for me then the 12 or 13 guns that were alright but had some quirk or disadvantage to my using them.
