Default Taurus OSS experience?

I was at the shop today and handled the Taurus OSS and now I need someone to talk me out of getting one. It fit my hand great and pointed naturally, very much similar to the full size M&P. I know Tuarus sometimes gets a bad rap, but I carry either a 3rd gen. PT145 or a .357 snubbie form them everyday and never a problem. 12+1 of .45acp is awesome too. Anyone have any, or hear of any, negative experiences with the gun??

You either trust Taurus or you don't.

Sounds like you do, is anyone here gonna change your mind with their tales of woe on the internet? I would never own one, but that probably means nothing to a currently satisfied customer.

It's a big version of your PT145....

Get it if you want.

Taurus has come a long way in the semi's and pistols in general. I don't think you would be wrong in buying it. I think that you would be pretty happy with your choice.-BB

pass.

Save a few bucks and buy a XD, Glock or M&P.

Taurus makes an excellent product. Funny, we all complain about rising prices but when we come across a manufacturer who has reasonable prices, we seem to immediately conclude that their products are crap. No true with Taurus. Just my $0.02.

Most people have their conclusions after seeing with their own eyes how the product performs.

Buying something that seldom works properly is never a bargain, no matter how cheap you got it for.

I have one of the OSS 24/7s. I felt the same way about the point and hand fit. I own,at present 6 Taurus handguns and one long gun. I had trouble with one of them (38S/945 in 38Super). The factory fixed it but it took forever. I have gone out with a friend who owns the M+P. Neither of us has had a problem. I liked his gun a lot, but he said he also liked mine. I think its sometimes hard to tell how much people are paying for a name. The Taurus Tracker I own in 357mag is a thing of beauty to me, but I also own the Judge that feels a little cheesy. All in all though, you can spend more and get less for your money than you do with Taurus.

I stand by my statement because I've owned Taurus products and those that I own and/or have owned in the past have amazed me with their reliability. I'm sure that you could find things about their products to pick apart that you don't personally like but I've read threads here and on other sites where people pick apart pistols that are custom built by companies that most consider to be the very best at what they do. That's just how some folks are and I certainly respect their preferences. But when considering a self defense weapon, every Taurus that I have owned has eaten whatever I fed it and hit where I aimed it (admittedly, not always the target but that's my failure). That's as basic as it gets and in a bad situation, as much as you can hope for. Again, just my $0.02.

I currently have 4 Taurus handguns. No major problems with any. Two where purchased new and two used. The 24/7 .45's trigger is not the greatest, but they all work well. I have been thinking about an OSS, but with 5 .45acp handguns I will need to find a reason to add another.

Reason for another? BWAHAHAHAHA!

You know the only reason you need is there is room in the safe.

I looked at the OSS. Seems nice enough, price is getting near M&Ps and Xds.
