Glock 22 3rd gen Factory Used W/ Warranty
2 mag night sights $369

You would be OTD for Under $450 easily and have a Glock with a warranty.

Sounds like a great deal to me.

If you're sticking with those four options, personally I'd go with the Ruger. That's was my first pistol and never had problems with it. But I agree with the other folks on here, find something better.

Too bad you're not in my neck of the woods. I got my brand new XD40 for $427 plus tax.

Ok, You guy's got this tightwad to open his wallet a little further.
I'm going to call around tomorrow and see if any ranges in the area rent XD's.
If not then I'll find one to fondle along with a glock and see which one fits best.
Thanks for all the input everyone.

P.S.I'm kinda surprised no one mentioned HI-Point. LOL

A Glock 19 or 23 would make a decent carry gun in addition to a home defense gun. Glocks are EASY to get parts & holsters for. Holster selection is probably, along with 1911s,as good as it gets.

Many people like XDs. Holster availability/selection is decent & seems to be getting better. Many people like the grip angle better than Glock. I have 2 Glocks a 20 & a 32. Someday I'll have an XD. I like the XD.357 & the XD.45 compact.

As far as used guns go: Many people buy a gun new,put 100 rds thru it & for whatever reason get rid of it. There are some good used guns out there.

IMO...a Glock or XD would be a better choice than the guns you mentioned in your opening post.

Ruger...are good but their autos tend to be big & clunky. I do like Ruger revolvers
Taurus...I've known way too many people to have trouble with them.
S&W M&P...I think the trigger SUCKS. I do like S&W revolvers.
Bersa thunder...I don't know much about, but a Glock or XD will be much easier to get a holster for...more selection.

When you get your LTCF...get a quality belt & a good holster. Spend the money, don't buy cheap junk.

BTW if anyone has a Taurus product they're happy with...Yeaaahh...I'm happy for you. I feel their quality is hit & miss compared to other makes. I would not buy one.

Really? you think the M&P trigger sucks? wondering if you meant to say sigma?

I've shot a Sigma and hated the trigger. Worst trigger I've ever pulled.
Shoot a P-11 then go grab a sigma and I think your mind will change on the worst trigger you have ever felt

Whatever gun you get make sure to practice with it and make sure you get one that fits YOU. Good luck!!!!

Gander Mountain and Cabelas both give warranties on their used guns, and I'm sure that you can find a shop that would do the same.

I would do like the others have suggested and look for a higher quality used gun.
Also, Sig and Glock put out factory refurbished guns and the price is usually pretty good.

Default Gun safe? nah..just a lock is fine

Unless you have multiple guns, or even if you don't, I think a lock is fine for securing your weapon instead of a safe. The point is to have quick access to it if needed. I may get a safe sometime in the future, but then again, I have quite a few guns, some for combat, others for collecting. They are either in secured cases with locks, or have locks on them.
As far as your choices go, I'll go along with what others have said and spend a few bucks more for quality. I have a Glock 21 45acp ready to go and out of reach from the little ones in the house. I also have removed the mystery of guns by teaching them proper handling and trips to the range with me firing them.

Just got home from Target World in Chalfont. Asked him about the XD in 40. He took one out of the case and when he handed it to me it felt SOOOO RIGHT! He then told me that he had one on consignment.(sp?) Well when I told him I had concerns about buying a used gun he said "Let me show you something" He then field stripped it and showed me where there should be evidence of wear. Slide rail, Feed ramp etc. And it all looked great. No scratches, All the blueing was still there looked great. And for $402.00 OTD I put a $200.00 deposit on it and will pick it up on Saturday.
IF I can wait that long.

Can't wait to get it to the range and see what she can do.

Thanks to all for your help and suggestions.

Congrats. You can really save some $$ on a used gun. If you build a rapport with your dealer he will do good by you.

Good job man....
Glad to hear that the man broke down the firearm and showed you what to look for in a good used firearm...
You will have to post when you get your hands on it...
An XD is a great pistol...
