Default Problems with Bersa?

I have been doing some reading over at bersatalk.com and it seems like alot of people are having problems. Broken safety levers, springs, FTF/FTEs etc.
Anyone here have issues with theirs?

Default Re: Problems with Bersa?

I own 3 Bersa's, with a 4th one currently on order. I've read about the twisted disconnector springs, which appears to be the most common issue, but I've never had the issue with any of mine. Nor any other issue for that fact.

All of mine run 100% when I shoot them, any brand FMJ or JHP, but my .380's have been known to have issues (FTFeed) if someone else is shooting and is limpwristing. The .380's require a fairly firm grip, but once the shooter figures it out, the guns run just fine.

I'm sure you know that the Bersa's have a lifetime warranty, so even if there was an issue with the gun, it wouldn't be a problem getting it fixed. Unless of course it's your only gun, etc. That said, even with the recent spring issue popping up here and there, it isn't enough to make me not buy another Bersa.

FWIW, I don't own just Bersa handguns, I own quite a few other handguns too

I sell a lot of Bersa Thunders at GM and I have only had one come back with a problem. It had a slight bur on the safety that the gunsmith quickly fixed. Other than that no problems with mine or anyone else I know that has one. -BB

Mine has been excellent, no problems since day one, feeds everything i give it , exceptionally accurate with Winchester silvertips, right at this minute its loaded and ready roll if needs be.

Quite a lot of gun for the Money, better trigger pull than Sig 232 and Walther ppk/ppks.

In the few years I was in firearms sales, I never understood why anyone would purchase such a cheap gun to defend their life. Sorry, IMHO you get what you pay for and my life is worth more than $200.
While the platform is nice, and some do actually shot ok, the Bersa is just a cheap knock-off of a Walther. Plain and simple.

Because sometimes Price ≠ Quality.

I can get a Hyundai for less than a Honda or Toyota. Doesn't mean it won't be reliable or that it should be avoided. In fact when looking at a product I don't even consider the cost (at first). I check it out, come up with some measure of it's "quality" (that discussion is for another thread) and go from there. By looking at cost first you are introducing a bias into your decision making, something that will not benefit you in the future. And just because they copied Walther doesn't mean they didn't improve the design.

In my few years of shooting I never understood why someone would criticize a person for selecting a quality firearm that fits their needs and budget.

I also have a thunder 380 .... its been my wifes gun for like 5 years now and its never had a problem , its had a few thousand rounds thru it , it still functions flawlessly and still looks brand new.

OH and JoeSmith + 1 million ..... Never question someone for buying an "inexpensive" gun ..... WE NEED THESE GUN OWNERS!!!!! It Also erks the living hell out of me when people say that.... when everyones budget / needs are different .... hell even their likes/dislikes are different. I LIKE our Bersa

I'm not trying to pick on Bersa owners directly. Yes, some owners have good results with them and may never have a problem. But I have seen several Bersa 380's malfunction, and or parts break. Yep, they have a lifetime warranty but the local gun store isn't going to give you a loaner while the Bersa is out being repaired or replaced, a feat which can take a month or longer.
On the other hand, in three years of selling guns, I never had a Glock or H&K returned or needing repair, and only one Springfield Armory XD when they first came out (weak firing pin spring).
You're right that higher price doesn't always relate to higher quality, but I personally would rather spend an extra couple dollars and purchase a proven, high-quality firearm platform then skimp when it comes to the protection of myself and family. Inexpensive handguns like Bersa, Highpoint and others aren't cheaper then Glocks, H&K, Walther and others because the manufacturer feels like giving you a break, they're cheaper because they use lower quality materials, production, assembly, etc.
