I never considered a high point because.... Well I guess I thought they were junk. Never researched them before. But after checking out high point forums. I'm going to get a 9mm comp. What the heck for 175 you can't go wrong there. For me it will be a fun little toy. I like having a variety of guns to shot. So I say why not?

I owned a highpoint C9 for over 3 years. (Friend is a cheep skate an bugged me so much about it i sold it to him) the weak point of the gun is the mags. if the feed lips are out of spec it will not feed properly. i got lucky and had 5 mags all worked fine. the gun never gave my any problems and was accurate.

as for a carry gun... I'm on the fence. because i HATE the safety.(i don't think its very safe) it seems to slide too easily, and stick out for stuff to get caught on it.. you could probably bend it to put more resistance on it.as your daily carry gun, i would probably buy something else. IF you choose to carry please get a holster that covers the safety. i used a vega holster (came with it). and i didn't carry with one in the chamber. i just carried it in the woods mainly when i was riding my dirt bike. for the range, home or out doors i would say its fine.

I would recommend the high point 9MM carbine. it fits the bill as a range gun and home defense. it is ALOT of fun to shoot, and is very accurate.

I have a hi-point 995 slightly modded and it shoots great...i hardly clean it and it has never jammed or anything on me, i have herd good things about their pistols also.

Now lets get this 100% american thing taken care of.... if thats what your worried about my FN Fnp9 is made in Fredericksburg Va

and my Smith and Wesson M&P 9c are made in Springfield Mass. So if you are looking at this gun stricly because it american and you can buy one for like 75.00 then I suggest you look at something else, but they do work and work well from what i hear.

I am going to buy the .40 carbine as soon as one is available to be bought(can't find one anywhere FFS ) I think that as a carry weapon goes, my S&W.40VE is just a bit more and other than removing a couple of springs to lighten the trigger pull, I have not had a single function problem with it through approx. 1000 rounds.

But here's the kicker. The gun still worked through all that.

I have the .45 and if you look around you'll see I tend to defend the Hi Point. It's better than a .25 Raven and better then no gun at all.

My .02 cents.
