Re: Need Glock advice. I have a 27 with night sights and really like it. Same piece in a different caliber. Don't think you can go wrong with the night sights; more flexibility.

If you think for a second that the factory fixed are "good", take your thumb and firmly twist the front sight up and to the side. Once it pops off, ask yourself if the $$$ you saved by not getting at least an aftermarket metal screw on front sight was worth it.
Here's a quote from an after-action report from a Larry Vickers course
Quote:
Since Larry is a well-respected pistolsmiths and firearms-industry consultant in addition to being a very-experience trainer, we were given some insights into weaknesses of some pistols. He advised that it is a little-known fact that the plastic things in the slide dovetails of the standard Glock (“The Universal Handgun”) are not sights at all, but merely “slot fillers” and should immediately be replaced with viable sights.
'nuff said. get something metal in there, and get night sights that you're comfortable using.

Retired,
I love the Truglow TFO sites on my Glock 30. Below is a picture of them in total darkness.

That picture is exactly why I gave up on 3 dot night sights...its too hard to gain front sight focus with 2 big ole' glowing dots throwing light at your eyes, which are closer to your eye, and thus appear to be larger. At least that's my experience.

I went to a plain black rear sight, and a front tritium w/ white outline, and it's perfect for me.

If I hold the gun at arms length like I'm ready to shoot. I don't see much of a size difference.

I really like my G30. I just have the factory adjustable sights on it however. From my experience with other Glocks that I own I would have to advise you to throw on a set of Trijicon night sights. You can always throw in a Crimson Trace, (grip laser) for good measure. I have a G22 set up in that configuration. It's not a bad set up. I keep that one locked in a box that my wife can access if I am away.

G30, You will like it no matter what you put on it.

Ok, I must be the only one on this site that loves the original factory fixed sight. It is just fast on target for daylight shooting and accurate. I do have crimson trace on for night time shooting......I do have night sights on other firearms but there is just something about the U style rear sight that I love. If I found night sights with the u style I would be ordering them ASAP..............Just my 2 cents .....Joe

I run a 10-8 Performance black rear with a Trijicon front sight on my M&P and my Glock.

I have found that 3 dots is WAY too busy for me to shoot quickly. Now I simply worry about the only green dot on the gun.....the front sight. Just like I do on my comp gun in the day light. Front sight, squeeze trigger. The rear is just a guide.

A wide notch 10-8 rear sight might be up your alley. Most people I know who shoot well like rear sights with minimal attention grabbing features.

Rex Havoc will become famous soon enough
Default Re: Need Glock advice

I had a set of sights built for one of my pistols. Green front, blue rear. All bright at night and the front still stands out.

I'd go with the factory sights and swap out for better night sights as soon as you are able to.
