Of course the CTAC inherently has that flexibility too, but having the plastic part inside the pants ahead of 3:00 is a non-starter for me.
I considered shaping a piece of Kydex to make the CTAC like the Scopion, but just gave up on it.

The CTAC clip has that large washer/ fitting between the leather tab and the clip, and that bulk there dug the hell into my leg. The M&P flopped around too much in that holster for me, and as a result, the bottom edge of the holster dug into my leg, as the gun wanted to lean out away from my body, and levered the bottom into me.

The first thing I though when I saw the Scorpion was that it was an uncomfortable hunk of plastic, that no-one in their right mind would strap to themselves. I put one on, and never looked back. 12 hour days on my feet, multiple IDPA matches, 5k+ rounds w/ holster work....haven't found anything better.

It's hard to avoid accruing the proverbial "box of holsters" along the way. The "right holster" is subjective. A certain amount of buy->try->resell is inevitable. The way to survive this financially is:

1. Have a common gun -- G19 being perhaps the most prevalent of all, judging on holster sales you see on gun boards.

2. Buy quality holsters that are popular. Quality = there's a good chance it works for you. Popular = you can easily resell it. IWB: CTAC, MTAC, Milt Sparks VM2 (if you can find one -- unlikely) or a good clone like the TT. OWB: Kramer, Galco.

3. Have a good entry point in the price, which means: scour the gun boards and eBay, and buy one used but in excellent condition, probably from someone who just completed a buy->try->resell cycle.

Thanks for all the input guys. I'm trying to decide between three of the options presented now. I'd like to try either the holster mentioned from TT Gun Leather http://www.ttgunleather.com/catalog/i35.html

The MTAC
http://www.comp-tac.com/catalog/prod...products_id=95

or the Desantis Scorpion
http://www.desantisholster.com/038.html

I've read that Kydex is not pleasant to have against your skin, to me that means that the desantis holster would not be comfortable. Am I wrong? Could this be helped by wearing an undershirt beneath your concealing shirt?

Any recommendations, comparisons, or things to point out among those three options would be appreciated!

I'm skinny as can be, with minimal natural padding around the waist....I typically wore the Scorpion w/o anything except underwear between me and the holster. Tucking a shirt in behind it helped on long days, but wasn't necessary.

With that holster and a good belt, I think you'll be just fine. I had the same hesitations you have, when I first saw it. After wearing it for 5 mins, my hesitations were absolved.

OTOH, I could never get the CTAC to be comfortable on me...even with a shirt tucked in behind it.

Synergy,

How does the scorpion conceal with your skinny frame? I'm not super skinny, but I'm not large either so I will need something that can bring the butt of the gun into my side as well. Also, how does the scorpion do with wear on the finish of the gun?

Thanks

i always wear an undershirt, so i never have either the holster or the gun rubbing directly on my skin. i would do this even with a leather holster, though. personally, having a leather holster rubbing against my skin isn't any better than having kydex rubbing against my skin...and, in any case, you still have the grip of the gun rubbing against your skin.

in the summer, i often wear synthetic undershirts (e.g., underarmor, but there are cheaper brands out there that work just as well) as they are cooler than wearing a second cotton t-shirt.

It conceals better than anything else I've tried...the rigid body pulls the gun butt in tight. I'm like a 32-34" waist.

My G19 was pretty worn before I got it....the only wear I've noticed it a pin-point spot on the trigger guard.

A user on a different site metioned that the belt feeds through the holster clips which indicated to me that the "clips" were closed. From the pictures on the Desantis site it looks like they are standard clips that can clip on over a belt and be taken off without removing the belt from them. Correct?

Anyone else have any experience with the wear a Scorpion holster produces on a glock?

I'm also thinking of using my holster on a 1 1/4 belt, and this holster seems to be designed for 1 1/2 inch belts. Will it matter much using a thinner belt?

Standard clips. Dont need to remove the belt.

I am also a fan of this combination. In fact that is what I am wearing now on a kramer 1.5" wide double thick horsehide belt.
