I am well pleased with my Galco Royal Guard IWB (horsehide--rough side out) for my G23.

I went through quite a few holsters for my G19 before finally found one that was concealable, comfortable and sturdy. I ended up with a Kramer horsehide IWB #3 cant . I've had it for about 3 years and it still looks new but it has been used a lot .

VM2's are great holsters. However, they cost a lot and take forever to get delivered from Milt Sparks. The eBay resellers are listing surreally high prices.
However, there are several other shops that offer hand made holsters in the same style as VM2, for a lot less money and a lot quicker delivery. I own and can vouch for: http://www.ttgunleather.com/catalog/i35.html http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/holster/20.htm Last edited by dgg9 : July 23rd, 2008 at 11:10 AM. |

I sold my CTAC as well. It's a good holster, certainly, but the part of the kydex belt clips that sits inside the pants can be very uncomfortable, if it hits you in just the right spot. For me, I could not wear the C-TAC such that the front belt clip was ahead of the 3:00 position -- the clip would intrude on the skin unbearably. Yes, I know that they make a version with a leather backing for the entire holster, but then the whole assembly becomes very bulky, which IMO defeats the purpose of kydex.

After extensive research on many gun-related web-sites, I wound up getting the MTAC, and am very pleased w/my decision.
The decision was based on excellent user reviews, product availability / quick shipping, reasonable price and customer support. Comp-Tac also offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. You'll be out shipping and a 15% re-stocking fee. So for a 75 dollar holster, it may cost about 15 dollars total or so to 'return' it. Regards, Rob |

Let me second dgg9's recommendation for Tim Thurner at TT Gunleather. I have one of his IWB's for my P7M8, and it is very similar in design to the Sparks VM-2. Mine was his first go at a IWB for the M8, and he was great to deal with. I wanted that 'relief cut' between the holster itself and its forward belt loop, a-la the VM-2 (The design lets me move more freely than IWB's with no such pivot/flex point incorporated). It's hard to really explain, but if you look at pics of both the TT and the VM-2, you'll see what I mean.
Good stuff. Regards, -Bones |

Of course the CTAC inherently has that flexibility too, but having the plastic part inside the pants ahead of 3:00 is a non-starter for me. |

just goes to show that the answer to the "best" holster depends (in part, at least) on who is using it...and why you can never know for yourself until you actually try a specific holster--which kinda sucks because "trying" $50+ holsters can get expensive. ![]() |
