speedstrips are SLOW so if you choose to use them... practice.

+1 on the Speedloader, but like my wife says if you can't hit them the first five times you shouldn't be carrying! |

Hmmm.Depends on how good of a shot you are (Or how close the recipient is...) One will make it hot, 5 will make it full. It's a S&W 642. 1st revolver I've ever purchased & by far the most forgiving .38 snubbie I've shot. Wife named it "Happy"....

Half moon clips. If you dont want to spend the loot to have the cylinder cut, then either loaders or strips would work. Ive found the easiest way to deal with the bulk of a speedloader on the belt is to place it snug against the rear edge of the holster. No reason you couldnt toss a speedstrip in a pocket also, just to keep the bases covered. I like them for the range, but i find them tactically flawed, in that you have to line the round pegs up with the round holes three times for a full load, vs just once with a speedloader.
Anyone own/tried the, for lack of better word, crossbread loaders? Set up with 6rnds like a speedloader, but theyre staggered to one side and clipped in like a speedstrip, with a finger loop at the back. You slip the front halves of the rounds in all 6 holes like a speedloader, but then 'wipe' off the carrier like on a speedstrip. Just curious. Crappy little pic;

Speed strips CC, loaders OC, but ALWAYS a BUG.

I like speed loaders they are much faster then speed strips, the down side is that they don't conceal well. in essence it's like concealing another cylinder. But over all I would still choose the speed loaders.

I'm reminded of the Ken Hackathorn quote "the definition of an optimist is someone who carries a J-frame and a reload" ...or something to that affect.

But it makes one hell of a back up weapon! I'm honestly dumfounded someone with such a resume would say such a thing. I'm no pro sponsored shooter, but I can keep all 5 rounds of .357 in the 10 ring at a decent pace and distance. OK it may not perforate holes but it's good enough to make me feel safe for summer carry! |

5 rounds is a handicap with 1 adversary...it's a loosing battle against 2, at night, with bullets coming at you....having 5 shots before a multiple second pause in your ability to put lead on folks, then sticking 5 rounds in 5 holes (one way or another)...all with a 2 finger grip and piss-poor sights... thanks, but no thanks. Not when you can carry a G26 with twice the firepower, better sights, faster reloads, and less recoil.
