Mine was an old 4" Colt Police Positive .38 Special. It was one of the most accurate guns I have owned. I traded it and a few dollars for a Ruger P-85. The day was 9-11-01. I guess I was preparing for something!

I just recently (last summer) bought my first gun at the tender age of 37.
I found a Springfield GI MicroCompact (3") at a local gun shop. I paid about $500 for the gun, 5 extra magazines, and a Galco pancake holster (it was a consignment package deal). It came in the original box complete with the manual and registration card. I had that as my carry gun until I bought my Baby Eagle, also in .45, which I absolutely love. The GI .45 has been relegated to staying in the range bag, and I'm giving serious thought to selling it and picking up a larger 1911 frame. It's a sweet gun, but I don't like shooting it much, and that takes a lot of the joy out of owning it.
