My first handgun was a Glock model 30 in .45 ACP, the first year they came out. Bad choice for a novice shooter I think, but I still have it and still like the gun even though it is no longer my CCW.
I think I have gone through the same pattern as everyone else who carries CCW daily long enough. You start out buying something big and beefy, worried about having enough "firepower". Then over the years your carry guns seem to shrink, and your first gun becomes a "house-gun" or "car-gun". The next thing you know, you have a hi-cap 9mm or a .45 ACP in your night stand or your range bag but the gun on your hip or in your pocket is a .32 or .380 ACP that only holds six. Then one day you realize you might have to actually bet your life on that gun in your pocket and you start looking for something bigger again. I think we are all lucky at the way the free market has translated demand from the growing civilian concealed carry movement into new products like all the compact polymer whose-a-what's-its. It seems almost hard to make a truly bad choice these days as long as you buy from a big name major manufacturer. |

I have been carrying My Glock 30 daily all day for 6 years and could not think of anything else "being my companion on my walks".

The first pistol I owned was a Colt Delta Elite 10mm that my father gave me. I kick my self in the ass all the time for giving it back to him, but I'll get it back one day. Its a sweet gun, but ammo sure is hard to find, and expensive!

First handgun that was mine was a gift from my father on my High School graduation, a Beretta 92FS. Still have it, and see no reason to sell it, though it's a safe queen.
First handgun I bought was a Glock 17 that's got almost as many miles on it as I do...and sadly looks better for them than I do ;-) It's on my hip 7 days a week, and will be for years to come, I hope. |

Ruger Mark III Target. I only intended to get one gun, target shooting only.
I failed. (I still have it, haven't shot it in ages though) |
