That sounds about right for the price. Make sure you shoot that gun before you buy because those grips are huge... Well aleast for me...

For it to be "Mil-Spec", wouldn't it have to be in original 1911 configuration? ...IE - single stack.
When I served in the USMC in the early '90s, even though we had switched to the M9, we still had alot of 1911's in stock and were still used - all were in the WWI/WWII configuration. ...even if they were made post Vietnam.

By chance, was that Springfield the model with the steel receiver? or one of the newer units with the polymer?

I don't know about the receiver, sorry. What would be the difference between the two? Price???
I am not sure about about the configuration (ie. single stack). That is one of things I an confused about. As for the grip... I am 6'4" and 280 lbs. I carry a full size XD-45 and I love it! Thank you guys for the quick response. I'll check back later

Springer makes a Mil-Spec type 1911 with the double stack frame. It's carbon steel and parkerized. The gun looks just like the single stack Mil_spec 1911 they offer.
I dont know anyone that owns that gun, but I do own the single stack "Loaded" version. It has been a great work horse for me. I replaced the full length guide rod with a GI set up, and went with a single sided thumb safety and a trigger job. Works great for me. THe factory finish wears about like the military finishes....wears rather fast on the sharper edges and contact points. But for a working gun, I am very happy with the finish. I use this gun and don't mind wear at all.

ok might be a good idea, but springfield is not showing this in their new on line catalogue.
it looks like a 1911 made by BUL of Israel Charles Daly was importing them at one time and might still be doing that. Its in their catalogue as the M5 go to their web site and check it out Also give Para Ordinance a try as they are the grandfathers of hi cap 1911's just be prepared for issues in getting mags for this version of the 1911 good luck in your selection |

It's the G.I. Model....not Mil-Spec. Sorry.

I have a Para- LDA 18 and it is a super outfit. There is no problem getting Mags except for the price. I just bought 4 hi-caps and paid about the price of an inexpensive gun.
It has the sweetest DA trigger that I have played with. |

$480 i think is good price, thats if your hand is big enough for them.
I've been wanting to add hi-cap Para LDA to my collection, but my hand is simply not big enough to hold the gun with proper grip and reach the trigger. If my trigger finger is about 3/4" or so longer....
