Para hi Cap LDA is pretty friggin wide dude... you can't appriciate how big they really are until you compare it side by side with single stack 1911. My single stack para 1911.. ![]() And their Hi-Cap LDA 1911 ( )![]() Not to mention that with 14+1rds of 45ACP, your talking big weight gain too!. But they are still so cool to have! Their LDA is about smooth as baby's ass!

Springfield offers a steel or alloy (I forget which) framed 1911, based on the GI model.
They use the same mags as the Para 14-45, the cheapest mags I've found for the Para 14-45 were $50.00 each. AS stated above, if you buy a few mags, you're shelling out enough $$$ to buy a used Glock. I'm pretty sure the double stack Kimbers & Wilsons with the poly frame use the same type of mag (but different from the Para), you can get get those for about $40.00 from Wilson. I don't know what STI uses. The price is right, but if I were to buy another double stack .45, it probably wouldn't be a Springer 1911. I'd probably buy a 5" XD or the G21 SF. For me the real Killer of the double stack 1911 is the costly mags and the inability to get the grips that I like for it.

As for weight....my bull barrel, full dustcover Edge is still lighter than a full sized Government model 1911.......the bushed barrel STI Eagle is a lot lighter and offsets most of the weight of the mag. Lycancakeandeatittoothrope

OK. I was just on the springfield sight and found it. GI.-45, mod. pw9701lp. I will certainly ponder this for a while. As I said before, it wasn't what I was looking for, it just got my attention. It really does feel really cool. I probably better quit talking about it before I convince myself I have to have it.

They come in a wide variety of calibers....45, .40, 9mm, .38 Super......
Same frame for all. I burnt mine down a bit with a wood burner. My .40 holds 21.
