Default g27 issue...

I was at the range today and the extractor on my glock 27 blew off, scared the piss out of me I thought the gun blew up on me for a second. There was a spent casing in the chamber(bullet came out just fine), very mangled to where the base was pushed up into the sidewal and cracked the sidewall about 95% of the way around, but the top half was fine. Nothing else is visibly wrong with the gun, i put the extractor back in and shot another 50rounds or so flawlessly. The gun is just a few weeks old, probably right around 150rounds down the tube, the ammo was doubletap 165gr golddots

The next round in the magazine was pushed back and all scrunched up so my uneducated guess is the first round failed to eject and the next round forced into that mangling it, and the pressure from the resistance pushed out the extractor.

Any input?

also I'm def. not gonna feel comfortable carrying it until it gets looked at, so anyone thats ever sent a handgun back to glock any input would be appreciated.

EDIT: and yeah my dumbass forgot the case at the range, so no pics..

I HAD a Glock 27. I would very inconsistantly get light priper strikes that were high on the primer. Before anyone tries to crucify me, I was an experienced shooter and was not limp wristing. NO, I did not have a cruddy or oil filled firing pin channel. Firing pin was in good condition. That being said, I called the good folks at Glock. I then shipped the 27 to the folks at Glock. They returned it to me in less than three weeks. The only parts that were original when it came back were the slide and frame. They rebuilt the ENTIRE firearm, AND replaced both of my magazines for no cost to me other than shipping it to Georgia. I fired about fifty rounds through the firearm after that with no malfunctions. I cleaned it, and sold it to a local shop for a very very fair price. I had simply lost confidence in THAT PARTICULAR firearm. I am not a Glock basher. I could not bring myself to carry that one any longer.

Glad you're ok.

Get us some pics and let's see the area of dmg on the gun, if you don't mind.

is no area of damage on the gun, i put the extractor back in and it shot another 50rounds fine, gonna hit the range this afternoon and put a couple hundred down the tube to see what happens. Still sending it back but the gun itself is atleast visually perfect

Mic a round and then chamber it......remic it it to check for setback.

You were pretty close to full casehead separation.

Sounds like a case failure. Double Tap ammo is loaded to nearly SAAMI max pressure.
