it felt rather odd typing that, no you're not reading a typo:
http://www.shootingtimes.com/ammunition/st327_110707 ballistics are impressive, but as a traditionalist, I wonder if this cartridge really needed to be invented? lately there seems to be an awful lot of niche cartriges showing up, none of which can really justify the purchase of a new gun to shoot them.

Our sport will ever be changing. I still don't have anything chambered in .17 HMR, nor do I think I ever will. Lots of folks do though, and love them. I am sure, someone once said, what the hell is wrong with the .44 Special. Why do we need a .44 Magnum and so on. I welcome change, but don't always feel the need to jump on the band wagon. Oh, I can still cycle the bolt on my 7mm Remington Magnum just fine. I don't think I will be buying a short mag any time soon.

I'm gonna be getting me a .327 mag pistol, and rifle, someday.. I've always wanted a 32H&R mag but never got one. If I hold out for the 327 mag rifle/pistol combo - I'll be able to shoot both, which = pure happiness.

my 2 1/4" .357 SP101 is nice to shoot even with 180 grain handloads at near maximum pressures. I can understand why .357 might be too much for a recoil sensitive shooter in a lighter gun, but SP101s are not exactly airweights. I guess ammo cost/availability is really the only thing that concerns me, Dick Metcalf likes it and I generally agree with most of what he says.

I like the idea of a nice punch of the .357mag in the same space of a .38sp, with the capacity of a larger framed revolver.
Put a houge or pachmyer grip on that revolver and you should have one nice carry piece.
