JSP's should be fine too, too late to mess around with new ammo for this year anyway. Get your but out and practice - that's the most important part.

Does PA allow deer hunting with a double action pistol and are you required to have only one round in the cylinder or have snap caps in the remaining spaces? My understanding is you can't use an autoloader but a double action revolver pretty much does the same thing.

By legal definition, a DA revolver is a "manually operated" firearm. (PA game regs)

So, no, it is not an autoloader and is perfectly legal for deer hunting in PA. Quite popular too

here's my deer medicine:

Thanks for the quick reply, and nice deer slayer! Do you prompt the deer to "make my day"?

i HAVE ALWAYS hunted with a 357. Always keep my shots to under fifty yards and I've gotten every deer that I had a shot at.

Default Re: Hunting deer with .357?

would you get much better performance out of, say, a lever gun in 357 ???

Me and my son are taking the hunter safety course next month. I have never hunted before, he wants to do it, so i trying to look into our options.

I always wanted a 357 to shoot at the pistol steel with 38specials for fun, and if I can bang a 100 yard or 200 yard gong with the 357's that would be sweet. Could use it at the indoor pistol range too. Just seems like a real versatile rifle.
