Default Gun safety education for schools

Is there any type of curriculum for teaching gun safety in schools? I think they should have age appropiate "lessons" about guns. (Like they teach about "alternate lifestyles" the parents could opt out) I know there is documentation that when children are taught what to do when they find a gun they actually do it. This would take the "mystery" away and guns may end up being no big deal like it used to be. It would probably prevent many of the accidental shootings.

This idea has been suggested several times at the state level. Teaching gun safety in all the schools districts would make too much sense and might actually do something to save some children’s lives so the Anti-gunners are always against it.

Several school districts or should I say activist teachers have brought them into the school rooms either through PGC hunter education programs or Eddie eagle safety programs.

It’s a sad fact that the anti-gunners always use an accidental shooting tragedy as political tools to lobby for enactment of more gun control.

Teaching common sense firearm safety to children does not suit the AG goals.

NRA's Eddie Eagle is the best gun safety education program. We even used it for our four homeschooled kids. Bring your idea up at your school board meeting.

Us too....the kids LOVE Eddie Eagle. I do have 3 copies of McGruff the crime dog that I got for free. I haven't looked at it yet but if anyone would like one...just PM me and I'd be more than happy to send you one.
