Default Beware the left hand

The House Democratic and Republican Policy Committees held a joint hearing on constitutional conventions. The members heard a presentation from John Gedid from Widener University School of Law, an expert on constitutional and administrative law. Gedid provided a background of previous conventions and the legal challenges to them. "Before there can be talk about making changes to the Pennsylvania Constitution, we have to make sure we understand how we got here and what impact such changes could bring to our citizens," said Democratic Policy Committee Chairman Todd Eachus (D-Luzerne).

It sure would be nice if they just amended out our right to keep and bear arms as shown in the PA Constitution instead of legislating subjugating statute to tear it out from under us in such an illicit fashion.

If they're talking about changing Article I (PA's bill of rights) they might want to actually read it first...

Quote:
Reservation of Powers in People
Section 25.

To guard against the transgressions of the high powers which we have delegated, we declare that everything in this article is excepted out of the general powers of government and shall forever remain inviolate.

They cant change it without violating the Constitution itself!

Read their talking a constitutional convention which would allow the people to vote. And you can bet the gun statutes will be cut out and that may allow PHILA to sneak in

I know John Gedid very well, he is the vice-dean at the Harrisburg campus of Widener law school, where I go to school. He is a very intelligent man and is very pro-rights.

How can you even amend out a birthright I have from the Creator which is by chance inalienable?

Easy, just legislate God out of existence like was done nearly fifty years ago, subject the masses to State brainwashing schools that teach nothing of our nation's founding and *poof* no more birthrights. That's exactly where we're at in the country today.

But that is the beauty of the expression, "endowed by their Creator"...

It does not say God, Allah, Jehovah or whatever other names there are out there. It does not matter if you believe in the Fates, human lineage (parents and ancestors and DNA) or what.

If we can agree that what we call this life is existence that we can either enjoy or regret our time together depending on our interactions; but more importantly before my birthdate, I did not exist as I do now, and after my deathdate I will not exist as I do now, then we can say I was created into this current form.

Well, I think I know where you're coming from Taepo, not trying to hijack the thread, but I want to clarify my post.

I do believe that we ARE indeed endowed with certain inalienable rights from our Creator by virtue of being made in His image. However, since our culture has increasingly been taken over by the hedonist secular left and parents have by and large abandoned their responsibility to teach their children to fear and worship God with the accompanying relationship with Him that goes with it, our heritage, our freedom and our rights disappear. Sadly, the majority of the population DOES get what they want from the government, and if they want to be wards of the state and forsake all freedoms in the name of being "safe" or having their needs met rather than relying on themselves for that, then we will suffer for it. And we are, and increasingly in the future we will. I just don't see this turning around. Things are looking suspiciously like the Roman Empire around here just before the fat guy picked up the fiddle and started playing.

I agree with Pat T. A lot of the problems our country is experiencing is a direct result of the gradual but deliberate attempt to remove God from public thought. Whether it be overtly, such as the removal of prayer in school, or subtly like in telling children that the pilgrims had thanksgiving because they were thankful to the Indians; leaving God entirely out of it.
