AN ACT

1 Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, providing for purchase of handguns.

3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
6 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
7 § 6105.2. Purchase of handguns.
8 (a) Handgun purchaser permit.--No person shall sell, give,
9 transfer, assign or otherwise dispose of, nor receive, purchase
10 or otherwise acquire a handgun unless the purchaser, assignee,
11 donee, receiver or holder is licensed as a dealer under this
12 chapter or has first secured a permit to purchase a handgun as
13 provided by this section.
14 (b) Eligibility.--No person of good character and good
15 repute in the community in which he lives, and who is not
16 subject to any of the disabilities set forth in this section or
17 other sections of this chapter, shall be denied a handgun

just another way to keep track, and hit you for some extra $$. What is the point?? so basically what they'll do is run you through PICS and NICS then hand you a slip so you can go buy your gun?!?! don't we already go through that?? I dont understand how it will help anything.

Worst of all......they will get this one passed....cause it will make it EASIER for a law abiding citizen to get a handgun....or so they will tell you.......cause you don;t need to do PICS and NICS for each purchase.......

then you'll needa permit, and need to do PICS and NICS each time anyway

I think the key to this is this clause: "No person of good character and good
repute in the community in which he lives" shall be denied the permit.

Sound familiar? What's the most common basis for revoking a LTCF when the sheriff can't point to an actual crime or prohibition? Right. The "character or reputation" clause.

It's the ambiguous loophole that government loves to use against the citizens. You're entitled to the permit unless we don't feel like giving you one, in which case the only people getting the permit are those willing to hire lawyers and spend their days in court.

According to that if you dont use your permit and then dont return it in 5 days even though it is now invalid you will be charged with a misdimenor of the first degree.... wtf is that???
