I have a lasermax in my XD SC .40. The only down side, and this is common to all of the red lasers I've tried, is that it is useless in daylight. The upside is I can put my XD in a standard holster with the laser in place. Also, no need to zero the thing.

i was running into problems with mine that i had on my g19. I posted this a while ago, so i called lasermax and they said "simply ship everything you got back to us, and we'll replace it" so i did and i received a new one ( i paid for shipping, but hey who cares). I was skeptical but put some rounds thru it and good to go, of course i need to put way more about 1000 until im super certain it will be ok. Mine works semi ok in daylight (indoors)....

kicked the idea around and decided to go the crimsontrace route instead becqause there are modifications that need to be made to the beretta' to install them. the crimson trace was just a grip swap which is just as easily reversible.

What kind of modifications? As far as I've seen there are no permanent modifications needed to install any LaserMax sight.

Posted the same thing in another thread.
I own both. I like the CTC better. My biggest issue with the guiderod laser is the manual intervention to activate it. The microswitch in the CTC is just there - squeeze the grip, laser activated. Less motion = better. Withe the guiderod laster once you've manually activated the switch in the takedown lever (at least on my XD) you can't deactivate it without releasing your grip. With the CTC you could loosen your grip, or, when your at the ready postion, your index finger will almost naturally block the beam (if you're right handed). The CTC laser is brighter - A LOT brighter. |
