Default Opinion on Falcon Menace 4.5-18x56 IR

Just as the title says. I was looking for a decent scope not to much money and not really crappy either for my new AR build. The gun is complete but needs some glass. I built it for precision shooting. It's a 24" Bull barrel RRA in .223.

I just found this on a guys gun on arfcom. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=5&t=252057

Does anyone have one or used one before. It sounds like a good bang for the buck. Looked online and found it for $390-$400.

Howdy Slick. The Falcon Menace is a popular "budget" tactical scope. I do not own one, nor have I looked through one. I know lots of guys that do have them, and most of them say that it's great glass for the money and that they're pretty resilient. I've heard that at the higher powers of the IR that it bleeds into the rest of the glass, not a big deal, just keep it lower down and it looks fine. Just realize how large of an objective lense a 56mm is, they're HUGE. You could also look at the Bushnell Elite 3200 and 4200 scopes, they'll be in that price range. The Super Sniper rifle fixed scopes are very popular as well in terms of budget tactical scopes. If I knew what you wanted to do with the scope, paper shooting, hunting, etc, it might help the recommendations and helping decide if a variable or fixed power scope would serve you better. The Millett TRS is pretty popular as well and is gaining a pretty good reputation. I haven't looked through that glass either, but I own a Millett LRS and was very pleased with the glass and construction. You can check out some reviews of some of the scopes mentioned at this sight, might give you an idea to some things some people don't like about certain scopes and like about others. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. I have read the reviews from snipercentral regarding the milet scopes and the menace and they seem to like them as well. I may just go and buy it and then can give a review on here.
