Default Any tricks for lining up a scope?

I'm mounting my scope on my pellet gun and I'm having an issue with getting it perfectly aligned. Anyone have any suggestions or tricks for how to keep it aligned while tightening down the mount pieces?

Or good old duct tape.

I normally just leave the level on the elevation knob and keep downward pressure on the the scope while I tighten the rings with the other hand. That way I can make sure it stays level while I tighten the rings
