Default scope for Armalite ar-10t

I have a Nikko Stirling 3-9x42. It's ok for 1-200 yds. Not happy with it. So I ordered a Burris tactical II 6.5-20x50. Would this be overkill at 300 yd plus?

Nah.....

You will not need a spotter scope.
