Default Re: What optics do you use on your varmint rifles?

My 22-250 has a Nikon monarch 6.5-20X44 with the target dot reticle. I like it very much. Never really been a Leupold fan, i think they are overpriced for the quality that you get. My nikon is just as clear , if not clearer, than the leupold I measured it against(vari x III). It was about half the price. If I was going to shell out the money for a Leupold, i would rather spend a hair more and buy a Zeiss or a Kahles

the bushnell elite 3200 is a sniper grade scope for $300 comes with a shade tube extension.i have one and its great.i know midwayusa.com sells them.i used a browning varminter in 22-250 with that scope and harris bipods,50 grain nosler ballistic tip reloaded with imr 4064.i could hit a soda can at 280 yards dead center all day never missing by aiming an inch over top.measured with a bushnell yardage pro compact 600 range finder.don't go just by how wide the scope is cause although it helps, its no garantee it will have a wider feild of view then a 40mm.you need to check the specs.also check out swfe super sniper scope for around the same price.

Objective opening only helps in light transmission, specifically low light conditions. The bigger objectives do make a difference, but like Ziggy said, not in field of view. I personally like nothing smaller than a 44mm objective, but 50 is better for me.
