I have a Gamo air rifle (1000 fps) with a Winchester airgun scope. The problem is it's shooting consistently about 2 inches to the left (groups nicely), but I cannot dial the scope to move it any further to the right. I've turned it as far as I can and I'm worried about over-tightening and busting the thing for good.
When I adjust it to the LEFT it moves OK, but it seems to be 'stuck'. Vertical adjustment is OK. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Do I need to re-seat the scope on the mount? Anything else I can do? Sorry if this is a novice question - any advice would be appreciated. I would rather not buy a new scope until I know I've tried to fix it. |

It sounds to me like the cross hairs are stuck. I'm not familiar with the winchest airgun scopes, but some of the cheaper scopes back in the day would "stick" a little. Have you tried lightly tapping on the turret to see if it'll move? If you have it dialed all the way to the other side it might jump ALOT and move all at one time. It does sound to me like there's a problem with the scope. Did you have to dial it quite a bit right to get it to adjust to where it's shooting now in the first place? If this is the case it could be not lined up with the bored and you might try remounting. I believe there is a pretty fair chance that there is a problem with scope.

Most likely not mounted properly. Scope is most likely off to one side. Remount and try again. You may have to shim the scope to get the adjustments you need.

You can check the scope rings by placing a long 1" dowel rod in place of the scope and then see if it is parallel to or pointing away (left or right) from the bore. If parallel to the bore it probably is the scope and I would contact the scope manufacturer to see what they will do for you.
