Default NcStar

What are your experiences with NcStar scopes? Are these quality scopes, or are they crap?

I bought an NcStar compact scope with illuminated reticle for an AR-15 a while back. I bought it online, before I knew they were made in China.

On principle, I try not to buy China-made products whenever possible (try finding a USA-made camera tripod). If country of origin doesn't matter to you, I'd say go ahead and buy. You'll get a decent optic for the money. It's not a Leupold, but it should serve well enough.

I have one of the rubber coated ones with illuminated reticles on my AR-15. They fall somewhere between quality and crap though. I don't hunt with it and I don't shoot past 100 yrds so I didn't see the need for a real high end scope on a plinking tool. Should I ever decide to put the AR into another category I'll probably change the optics.

I bought one when I got my Mini-14. It was one made for the Mini. The scope attached to the mount with screws, not rings. Needless to say the crosshairs were not square with no way to adjust them. Took the scope back off without firing a shot and put a red dot on it.

The illumination is nice and the scope itself didnt seem too bad but its a hard to tell what you will get.

Thumbs down Re: NcStar

I have a rubber coated one with red/green cross hairs.
Parralax is terrible. Tube is clear and the green quit working after a few hours.

Would I do it again? No.

They are China CRAP stay away!!! unless you like buying sh!t twice!!! I saw one break last week at the shoot in Langhorn. Spend the extra 150 and get a 10 times better bottom line Leupold with the life time warranty. I never understood the guys that buy a 1200$ rifle then put a 95$ scope on top?????????????
