Default Spotting scopes

what do I look for in a spotting scope other than a tripod to go with it.

want one that I'll be able to use out to a 200 yard range. I was thinking at least a 20-60x60

I'd recommend the Konus 7120 80mm; it is generally considered the best bang for the buck among Highpower shooters. I got mine from B&H Photo in NYC for under $200 shipped.

Spend the money once. Don't go cheap, you'll not be satisfied with what you can see at 200 yards. +1 on the Konus line. Power isn't all there is to a spotting scope. The quality of the optics is very important. The biggest issue I've seen is that many of the cheaper scopes don't gather enough light to make the 200 yard object bright enough and sharp enough. If you can easily see 223 holes in paper at 200 yards your good to go.
