because buying 6 more inches of the same material is cheaper than buying two different types of material. thanks for the info on wall thickness. between having the shoulders and needing something to screw the sight to i felt .100 was a good thickness.

one thing that has me stumped is the design for my mono core. i'm stuck between staggered holes and slanted baffles to create triangles on the ends and trapezoids in the center.

In case you didn't know, all ALL of YHM's cans use Mark White's slant baffles.

And as far as wall thickness .065" Al will hold up to 223 (when used on a 16" barrel bolt action)

that is a prelimnary design i came up with for my core it still needs some tweaking before i try to make it. the corners wont be sharp like that but i don't know how to show them rounded on the computer yet.

From reading what you posted before, you are just a novice machinist, and probably doing this at your home. Depending on what machines you have, this piece would be fairly difficult to machine. Just my thoughts on it.

So did you do the paperwork yet? Or are you just machining tubes for now?

i've had my paperwork for a few months now. i have access to an entire machine shop but don't know how to use half of it. when doing the trapezoid shaped baffles im planing on just using an end mill that with and going back and forth on one axis. and the corners wont be square. yea 9mm pistol and why wont it cycle
