To play devils advocate, how would the absolutists amongst us feel about a restaurant putting up a sign saying "No Blacks"?

I wouldn't eat there. But I might open a tavern across the street and post the sign, "No bigots."

I always said (and I'm sure others have said it first), if the 1st Amendment is ever repealed, it will be as part of a crackdown on the KKK. After all, who in their right mind will defend the KKK? It'll be a decade or two later, when people have gotten used to the loss of their free speech, that they'll start targeting churches, small political parties, etc.

Do those laws protect gun owners and their rights. Can people still put up signs saying 'no guns'?

We should push it.

BTW in Philly PA there is a steak shop named Gino's. They have a sign saying the same thing. And they have given up trying to make him remove it.

It's like comparing apples & oranges. Neither one is used in pumpkin pie. The point of the sign is a protest against reverse assimilation, not racism. If he was prejudiced against <insert ethnic identity here>, he would have specified that.

If this doesn't make sense, how many times do Americans emigrate to Mexico, France, Germany, et al and demand the host country be bilingual or switch over to the American dialect of English?

This has already happened in PA - article.

Do you think this guy speaks any other language than English? No

Isn't there some guy in Philly that has a cheesesteak shop that has a similiar sign? He's always on one of the cable news shows.

I for one agree that a sign saying "No Blacks" should be illegal. The trouble is that the road to hell is paved with good intentions so from common sense we have the idiotic Public Accommodation Laws.

But as usual you guys are missing the bigger point

The guy who put this sign up did it for no reason but to make a nonsensical meaningless feel good statement. PA Rifleman got it right, almost. It should be all about assimilation. But the question is how do you achieve assimilation? Silly meaningless signs? Antagonizing? All that is needed is for the menu to be written in English, the wait staff speaking English, etc. You have others assimilation when they have no choice. My family assimilated because there were no signs written in Hungarian. They had no choice. These days you can file your taxes in dozens of languages. Public schools teach in many languages Everywhere you turn the Non English speakers have a choice.

The official government approved balkanization is the nonsense stupidity we should stop.

Helping somebody who does not speak English is just common courtesy. Yes, I have been to Germany, France, Mexico, China, Brazil, etc. etc. etc. and I have always been helped by kind locals helping me with their language.

I don't. What good is accomplished by forcing someone to associate against his will? If a racist only allows whites in his shop, then anyone who doesn't like his bigotry will go somewhere else. He will eventually be driven out of business.
