Default Granny's got a gun...

http://www.wpxi.com/news/17223812/detail.html

Quote:
LAKE LYNN, Pa. -- An 85-year-old great-grandmother from Lake Lynn, Fayette County kept an alleged burglar at bay using a .22-caliber pistol.

According to police, a 17-year-old suspect was attempting to burglarize Leda Smith overnight.

That's when Smith grabbed her gun and told the teen that she would shoot him if he moved, police said.

"I had the gun on him before he turned around and said, 'you've had it,' " Smith told Channel 11-News.

According to police, Smith ordered the boy to dial 911 and then gave him some advice.

"Dial 911 and don't attempt to throw the phone at me, or do anything bad or i'll just shoot you," Smith said.

When police arrived, they took the teen into custody.

Charges have been filed against the boy and an alleged accomplice.

Great job Great Grandma but I would advise her to increase caliber.

I'm not trying to start a caliber debate, but my mom's gun is a .22 and if you saw her shoot it you might be tempted to try another house. On the other hand she can't hit shit with the 9mm so it's larger bullet is useless in the doorjam.

This story reminds me of a story I heard from a guy I used to work with. His 102 year old grandma survived a world war, had 9 kids and worked all her life despite barely speaking english. She came home from grocery shopping and noticed a young man hiding under her kitchen table out of the corner of her eye. She pretended nothing was wrong, got a broomstick and proceeded to beat the snot out of the kid until he ran out the door. The door out of the appartment bulding was locked and this little old french woman beat this kid with a broomstick until the police came to save him. He was thankful to be arrested.

It always seems to take an elderly woman to make defending yourself a feel-good story in the media. God forbid she pulled an Ak out to protect herself. What would the media do then! Good for her.

I had my two grandsons out to the local Wally World one day and as we came out of the store there was a police officer investigating an accident. The officer is the officer who's daughter goes to the same daycare as my grandsons so my grandson knows him. He proudly introduces us and we shake hands.

At that point my oldest grandson (age 5 at the time) lifts the side of my shirt to show my gun and tells the officer "My Grand-mom carries a gun just like you do".

Default Woman, 85, Makes Burglar Call 911 at Gunpoint

http://www.whtm.com/news/stories/0808/545534.html

Quote:
A 17-year-old is in police custody after an 85-year-old woman held him at gunpoint and forced him to call 911 after police say he broke into her home.

Leda Smith says she heard the boy break into her home about 3 p.m. Monday. She says she grabbed a .22-caliber revolver she
started keeping by her bed when a neighbor's home was burglarized a few weeks ago.

She lives in Springhill Township, about 45 miles south of Pittsburgh.

Smith says she made the boy call the police and then held him at gunpoint until they arrived.

Smith says the incident was "exciting" and she's hoping it ends a string of burglaries in the area.

The boy will be tried in Fayette County Juvenile Court. He's not being identified because of his age.

Cryin' shame she didn't have a Heart Palpitation while finger was resting on hair trigger ... don't be surprised if we eventually do read the little bastards name in print ... hopefully the Obit Column .

I give Granny a .. 9.5 .. good form, failure to follow thru .. plus .5 for Senior Addition, giving her a Perfect 10 !
