I agree, pay your tickets and you should not have a problem. Next question for you is, did you ever hear of a tire Boot? How about Booting the vehicle they used to get the ticket until it is paid?

Not in my realm of authority.

If a car is parked illegally / has tickets, the department citing it may be able to boot the car.

However, I get a warrant for a *person* who has not paid their tickets. The *person* is liable for that, and I do not have the authority to remove what could be their means to get food / take someone to the hospital / etc.

Depending, I may be able to accept payment (and avoid bringing the person in front of the judge) or I may have to deliver the person before the court.

I get what you're saying - but it's not a tool available to us.

Perhaps the highest-profile case was when a man showed up to vote last year with a holstered gun, and a constable asked him to leave the gun in his vehicle.

The man refused and was allowed to keep the gun in its holster while he voted, but Walker said a poll worker later complained to Franklin County Sheriff Robert Wollyung, who revoked the man's permit to carry the gun.

The man appealed Wollyung's decision, and Walker sided with him.

"He didn't violate a law and I wasn't going to let (his supporters) make a martyr of him," Walker said this week.

He said he asked legislators to write a law governing firearms at polling places but basically "got a (expletive) answer."
Reading judge Walker’s comments it reminds me WE don’t have a legislation / law problem. WE have a problem with judges legislating from the bench, they need to stop wear their black dresses, play god over people lives, because they can do what ever they want from the bench and twist the intent or intrepid the laws to suit their political agenda.

Judge Walker, the prosecutor all knew there was not law to support revoking gnbrotz LTCF permit, yet gnbrotz had to go hire a lawyer and take off work to defend his rights.

Martyr? ? ? Was Judge Walker going to let the legal system railroad gnbrotz IF no one showing up to support him? Reading this and other public statements made by judge Walker sure would seem indicate this was possibly going to be the case in my opinion. Had not many gun owners came to court that day to support gnbrotz would the judge let the revocation stand, forcing gnbrotz to spend more money to appeal Judge Walker decision to a higher court. This is a practice among some judges forces people to come up with lots of money to cover the cost of fighting the legal system. Costs of legal defense out spends most people limited finances to defend their rights. Other people just give up when they run out of money..... it happens to many gun owners in PA, most of the stories are unknow except when they get posted on places like PAFOA. What would have happened to someone like gnbrotz had there been no PAFOA or Pro gun actvist like Kim Stolfer to contact when help was needed the most?

How many of you have a extra 1,000 to 20,000 just laying around to fight a legal battle to maintain your rights? I sure don't

When gun owners finally decide to fight the legal problem in Harrisburg by personally getting involved politically, things will start changing for the better other wise deal with more so called reasonable / common sense gun laws being used against you as many other PAFOA members have already found out the expensive way.

Elections are coming up in a couple of months do your part to support Pro-Gun legislators and help un elected anti-gun people anywhere in the state. I know Firearm Owners Against Crime and the NRA has teamed up to take out LONG time anti-gun, self proclaimed sportsmen, Rep Dave Levdansky. That wouldn't attend a Pro-gun rally, but did attend a Mothers Against Gun Rally at the capitol to show his support for more gun control.

I am also going to a fund raising event for Rep Daryl Metcalfe this weekend, doing my very small part because Rep Metcalf supports all of our firearm rights and freedoms, I can't vote for Rep Metcalf, but I can reward him with my support.

Sorry, I didn't mean to hi jack the OP thread for a rant but this from orginal article say it all, about absue of power with no over sight, no recourse. Like anything in life if the bad weeds are not pulled from the garden, the bad weed will choke out the good.

"Their work is very hidden, and they deal with individuals within the criminal justice system who don't have much lobby power, influence or sympathy," said Blair County President Judge Jolene Kopriva, interviewed during a canvass of county judges. "So they are individuals who can be taken advantage of easily. Not many people would care."

Just a friendly reminder to all here on PAFOA, The next primary election election cycle in early 2009 will have most Constable positions up for re-election. There are many constable positions that are in fact empty.
Check with the Voter Registration Office in your county, and inquire about your particular "ward". I say if you can't beat'em, then join'em.

You can pick up a nominating petition for one or both parties. Get 12 signatures and you are on the ballot. Seems like it would be very easy to get elected Constable.
The training is provided by the Commonwealth. I am looking forward to the forty hour handgun training.
As a perk the PA State Constable badge buys you entrance to the LEOSA gun club. Allowing you to carry in all fifty states and D.C. That perk alone is worth running.

I have made up my mind to run in 2009. I intend to win. I would be 60 when sworn in . The term is for six years. That seems about right. Might even be a good part-time job when I retire I'll keep you all informed.
