You'd be surprised what adrenaline can do when your wounded. IN york we have responded on shootings wnd had the vic run a few blocks after getting hit with what I would call a larger caliber weapon. For "larger" caliber includes anything over 9mm.

I hope it was a .45, so all the 9mm and .40 and .380 carriers can rejoice!

There was also a story not to long ago where a intruder was hit center of mass with a .45 slug from a homeowner and ran back out of the house and across the street before falling. In this case the guy may have ran 400 yards, but i garentee he was not a threat. Big difference in getting shot and being a threat still and getting shot and not being a threat. Brown Bear is right also with adrenaline

Both suspects fled east on foot, but the wounded robber collapsed about 400 yards away on West Stiegel Street, bleeding profusely from his chest.

Remember the thing about one shot stops from handguns. Don't bet your life on it. That could have happened with any common defense caliber. That's why I keep a Mossy 590A1 under my bed.

For your general info, the first shooting was about 6 blocks from me, right up from my doctors office.

And there was a second one (kinda) today, some du****s walked into a business in Elm (Penn Twp.), North of Manheim and started firing his weapon in the air. The business owner wasn't armed, but faked a heart attack and clutched his chest. The aforementioned du****s, who had just fired a weapon into the ceiling to make a "first impression"........ran away.

ETA: And as far as running while bleeding, when I was a vollie F/F in Reading err.. several years ago we had a wreck where the driver died and his passenger was last seen running down 9th St.- with one arm hanging on by a tendon. Never found him.

Long-time lurker...first-time poster.

I was watching the NBC station out of Lancaster this morning...and I was shocked to hear them say the name of the manager (victim) in the robbery! My morning paper specifically said the name was being withheld because the second bag guy (and the one who probably had the brains in all this) was still on the run. What the hell? The newspapers, the other TV stations all seemed to understand the need to withhold the name for safety's sake...but not WGAL. For me that goes past bias to intent...

All of yesterday's (Wednesday's) news reports mis-identified the perp's gun as a Tec-9. It was really an AB-10 (made by the same company - Intratec). The AB-10 is a somewhat more PC version of the Tec-9, without the threaded muzzle and barrel shroud.

Today's (Thursday's) paper has an article correcting the identification. The reporter apparently finally consulted a "gun expert" clerk at a gun store. The mis-identification probably came froim the police, whom the reporter expected to be a "gun experts". (I guess we all know enough not to expect the police to be experts at various subjects.) Too bad nobody read the text imprinted on the side of the AB-10 which identifies it correctly.

This was finally ruled self defense today by the DA. There is a video at the link below.

Got to really hand it to his step-father. Saw him interviewed on channel 21 last night. What didn't make the quote posted here made me smile like the cat in Alice in Wonderland. To paraphrase the best I can, he said of the manager 'I don't blame him for what he done, he did what anyone would do in a similar situation.' He did SLAM the accomplice though 'My son did this probably to be a friend to someone, that's how he was, but he BEST NEVER call my son a friend because friends don't leave friends to bleed to death him the street. He didn't even give my son the dignity of staying with him and holding his hand'.

So yea, he put the blame on both his son being off his meds, doing things he shouldn't have AND the accomplice for leading him where he shouldn't as well as abandoning his son. Of course like most criminal cowards (and other people) if someone had just shot the guy beside me, I'd probably be booking for the fastest way out of dodge and not hanging around either (although, I don't leave friends behind, didn't previously don't plan to start, and don't plan to do something criminal).
