Weapons, drugs found on Delaware County insurance agent

A Delaware County insurance agent who allegedly threatened a state employee and failed to forward documents and money to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for customers was found to be in possession of heroin and an array of weapons when arrested, police said Tuesday.
Leonard C. Triggiani Jr., 50, of Chester Pike in Sharon Hill, has been charged with insurance fraud, terroristic threats, forgery and related crimes, according to a court document. He is being held in Delaware County Prison.

Delaware County District Attorney G. Michael Green said Triggiani might still face weapons charges. Police are determining whether all the weapons were properly licensed.

"The firearms demonstrate his ability to carry out any threats made," said Green.

Yesterday, police displayed about two dozen handguns and assault-type weapons, inactive hand grenades, knives, ammunition, police badges, and a U.S. Embassy picture identification card for the Baghdad office with Triggiani's picture but someone else's name on it.

Green said officials did not have an explanation for the apparently fraudulent identification documents.

According to court documents, on April 10, Triggiani used profanities when an employee with the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance contacted him to investigate complaints against Triggiani Insurance Agency in Sharon Hill.

On May 14, Pennsylvania State Police received a complaint regarding a vehicle title transfer by Triggiani that had not been processed by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. State police say they have identified 62 other victims whose transactions with Triggiani were not sent to the state.

On June 17, the owner of Paul's Window Washing in Philadelphia was told by the state Worker's Insurance Fund that the workman's compensation policy he obtained through Triggiani's company had been canceled due to lack of payment.
