If you call in please just make sure you have a well worded question, and please for the love of God annunciate. We need to sound like intelligent responsible gun owners. Not like a bunch of uneducated idiots with guns, how the public perceives us is super important.

I like the point you're trying to make here. :P

Everyone, before calling in, please review the arguments on the several threads we have relating to 'what do you say to an anti-gunner'.

You need to present strong natural right/2A/Art.I.Sec.21 questions that don't allow twisting and fallback as I imagine Joe Grace would much love. One example that always comes to mind is 'Why not just enforce the laws on the books!?' Bad question!

Get the video recorder machine going at 7 pm its going to be worth having a copy of this epic debate for the future.

In the attached PDF has the documneted proof that existing PA firearm laws are not really being enforced by the courts, its broken down by UFA section with a description of the law. I love dropping copies of this report on Reps desk.

I do plan to watch this tonight. Is there anyone who will be able to provide a digital recording for online archival? I understand there may be some legal issues posting such video on YouTube, but also understand that hosting on a personal website for non-profit/personal use is ok.

Email from Mike Stollenwerk at OCDO (posted at his request)

Quote:
FYI below: I cannot listen in tonight and call in, but I expect the issue of open carry and serial number checks to come up - the cold hard legal facts are that a mere report of a man with a gun does not give rise to power of the police to detain and search people; that the police have no more power to randomly demand concealed gun licenses or check gun serial numbers that they do to demand folks driver's licenses at random or demand to check the serial number of the SIM cards in their cell phones.

And finally, there is no such thing as an illegal gun in Pennsylvania as there is no gun registration - guns are just personal property that happen to also have specific protections in the PA and US constitutions.

Unlike most states, PA generally makes it unlawful to transfer/lend handguns to other persons without dealer background checks, there are exceptions for family members/concealed gun license holders, respectively, and this does not affect those moving into PA. Further, while it is a crime for a person to transfer or lend handguns outside the exceptions, it is not a crime to receive such handguns, nor does the unlawful transfer void title to the handgun. Of course, if the possessor is a prohibited person, that is a crime under both PA and federal law.
