Default Gunman killed self, police say

I know this was posted before and locked because of the direction the thread took.

I'd like to pose another look at this story. With what we know by the News Paper article it could have been just a man exercising his 2nd Amendment rights afforded to him by the United States Constitution, although the New Jersey Constitution does not provide for "bearing arms."

At no time was a law presumed to be broken other then the fact a man was in possession of a gun outside of his home.

We will just have to wait to see what information comes from this incident and if we believe the "facts' that come out in print.

Gunman killed self, police say
By Mari A. Schaefer and Andrew Maykuth

Inquirer Staff Writers

A man fatally shot himself behind a Willingboro restaurant late Friday after a gunfight with police, Burlington County officials said last night.
James Isaac Rittenburg, 36, of Trenton, shot himself in the head after police responded to a call of a gunman behind Ruby Tuesday's at Route 130 and Levitt Parkway about 11:10 p.m., said Jack Smith, spokesman for Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi.

When Willingboro police arrived, they said, they found Rittenburg near a large trash container. Shots rang out after officers confronted him, and police wounded him, Smith said.

The Burlington County Medical Examiner's Office determined that a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, rather than the police shots, killed Rittenburg, Smith said.

The Prosecutor's Office is reviewing the case, which is standard policy for police shootings. The officers were not identified
