Default Place to find/read law

Hello,
I'm in a bit of a debate about laws having to do with self defense. I've been reading about it and now I'm thinking that these books are just old. I've read that if you fear for your own life or for the life of others, you can use lethal force by any means. However, I also see the law where you can only use equal force. I know this will probably vary by state but what is the general law? Where can I find these laws to read about the up to date information?

WestLaw's site is a lot less unofficial. It is generally kept up to date and appears to be endorsed by the PA General Assembly. The same cannot be said for the AOL site, although the AOL site is plenty easier to navigate (imaginably because westlaw wants you to pay for better access.)
