Default My parents are contemplating getting their LTCF

...but they don't know ANYTHING about it. I don't think they even know it's called a "LTCF". So I'm relativly on my own finding the info. I don't know how to go about getting a permit for this state, and I can't seem to figure out a straight answer to going about doing it.

What are the first steps to obtaining this license?

At the bottom of this sub-forum is http://www.pafoa.org/forum/montgomer...mery-ltcf.html which talks about a... "check card" or something, I don't know most of the itty-bitty details.

So what should we do? From what I gathered, we go to the local police station and get this.. "Check card", fill it out and hand it back in to police chief who will give us the applications and send the "check card" to the sheriff, go home, fill out the application, wait a week, take it to the courthouse in norristown, and end up paying something between 15-40 dollars for the whole thing.

That's what I gather from the bits and pieces I scavenged.

Anything else I should know, corrections, personal experianced, etc?

HiredGoon pretty much has it covered. Pick up the application and local police check card, take the check card to your local PD and have them sign off on it (usually takes about a week), then take the completed application/check card to the county courthouse.

May I also suggest they take a course offered by Dick Reinheimer at Langhorne Rod and Gun Club. Dick can be reached at dickrr@verizon.net

He is perhaps one of the best instructors nationally for CCW use, tactics, and function. We are very lucky he also lives near by.

Regards,
Gary
