Taking something you havent paid for is stealing by definition, not just "technically"
I am suprised at the poll results thus far. It can be rationalized all day long, and if you give me long enough I can convince myself that most anything is "not so bad". But theft is theft, dollar or penny.

of course its stealing...how anybody can justify it as being "technical" or even ok is beyond me.
I too am surprised by the poll results...seems there are a lot of ethically and morally corrupt folks around here. this is like paying for one box of ammo, and taking 2. Who cares if your FFL didn't notice, hes just a dirty gun dealer....right?

Why don't theaters do that nowadays? Money... It's cheaper for them to let people stay and hopefully buy more food and drinks.

As a business model, it's probably more cost more effective to allow people to "steal" a second movie than to police 16 theaters and accept responsibility (and liability) if a confrontation occurred if the typical teenage usher/ticket checker/sweeper asked a rowdy bunch to exit a crowded theater. That's sort of why I was hoping we could keep this going on how people really felt, without the concern of being judged by others who have earned great respect on this forum and either hold a lesser view of the movie companies making billions on eye candy, not to mention the concession sales, nor by those who hold themselves to higher moral standard, and won't compromise their values regardless of what may seem like a victimless crime. I had no idea what to expect, but so far it seems the results are reflecting honest personal responses to the question and I really appreciate seeing what I think shows great insight as to how the PA population in general feels about the practice of plexing. Keep the responses coming.

I have more to say on this topic.
I have never "stolen" a second movie. One place where I do not have a problem in disobeying the theater rules is in bringing food/drink into a theater. Money is a little tight for us right now. I can either go see a movie with one of my kids and buy a drink and popcorn for an additional $10 or I can bring both kids and smuggle in a couple cans of pop and candy bars. Total cost for the pop and candy is about $2. The outraegous concession prices is what pisses me off most about theaters. Now my next statement won't make much sense but... I'd rather pay a couple bucks more per ticket and buy a reasonably priced bag of popcorn rather than pay $5 for a small popcorn. I can go to the store and buy a 10 pack of microwaveable popcorn for $5. I can have 10 times as much for the same price. It really ticks me off.

I have mixed feelings about this question. Although I do agree that it is stealing, I figure if the theater doesn't do anything to prevent it, why should I care? It's not like the people doing it are stealing from me? Or are they? Example, my husband and I went to the movies a few months ago and with about 30 minutes left of the movie (you know, right around the time the murderer is revealed or the scariest part of the movie) 5 or 6 teenagers walked into the theater and sat down and within a few minutes were laughing, talking and carrying on. Now, I didn't have a problem with them being there, but when they started disrupting the movie I paid to see, then I had a problem.
 So, I guess my answer would have to be that I don't mind when people do it as long as they don't disrupt the people who have actually paid to see it.
