Its russia. They prolly used to see it like that. When I was at the Virginia beach this past summer, I was all sorts of excited to see F/A 18 Hornet fly above my hotel during the final landing pass. They were literily flying like 100feet above my head.

And noone in the area seems to be moved by it at all

You would have liked the base I was stationed at. It was quite common to be riding along side the runway and see two F4 Phantoms with full after burners on, scrambling to intercept a Russian Bear. It was really cool.
