Is it just me, or does the area in and around Lancaster city and suburbs just keep getting worse? It's actually disgusting. It seems like literally every day, there's another shooting. I'd like to know what the police departments are doing about this atrocity because right now it seems like they're doing absolutely nothing. They only seem to show up once someone's been shot. I've been in the bad parts of Lancaster plenty of times and never seen 1 cruiser. It's just embarrassing to live around an area that thugs are completely taking over.

And it doesn't stop there. Those, like you said, are isolated incidents that happen in the suburbs surrounding Lancaster City. There are shootings that happen EVERY day inside the walls of the city that go almost unnoticed. The media puts them on "page 6" because it's expected and it's only news when NOTHING else is happening. Lancaster was a nice city, but not now. It's a tragedy.

Not to belittle your comments, but this "monkey-see-monkey-do" has become the cliche of the 21st century.

You miss the point, no one is saying that everyone who sees this $hit goes out and repeats it. However, it reinforces and motivates those with a penchant for this kind of violence. Case in point Cho at VT. An avid fan of the violence generation.
Why all the Columbine copycatting for instance ? It's like porn, are you saying that has no effect on people?? It's a prime reason that sex crimes have skyrocketed since the Internet has mainstreamed it. Last edited by PocketProtector; May 17th, 2007 at 09:15 AM. |

I do agree with you there. It seems that these social "retards" (for lack of a better term) like Cho all have a common me against the world theme. When the media blows up a story about some worthless being like Cho, it gives others like him that same outlet. Somewhere along the lines, people got soft. EVERYONE gets made fun of as a kid, but for some reason these little twerps now can just go pop off a couple of people if life gets a little bit too hard.
All that said, it still doesn't explain how thuggery has taken over Lancaster city. It appears that the police are afraid to enforce certain areas, and only end up there if they have to be (when a murder or shooting happens). Two things have got to happen... police officers need more rights, and criminals need less. I'm tired of reading how an officer is being investigated due to use of his weapon, or for "wrongly" arresting someone. If you weren't looking shady, you wouldn't be getting arrested, and if you weren't pointing a gun or other lethal weapon at an officer, you wouldn't be getting put-down. |

What do YOU think should be done?

There is ONLY ONE CHOICE! Ban all guns. Ya, that's the ticket.

Everyone should have a gun...Then the idiots who try to be bad arses get wasted by people who wont put up with their crap. One way to be rid of all idiots!
