Default Re: had to shoot a cat

why is this in the hunting forum?

Why did you shoot the cat?

Why were you using a 7.62x39 rifle when there is no rifle season in now?

what the hell were you doing?

And no, it is NOT okay to shoot anyone's pet unless it is in self defense. This kind of shit is what gives hunters a bad name every single year. Personal responsibility is not being a dick and knowing your personal actions will have consequences.

If you shot my dog I would be very very upset

I think the OP had to "put the cat down" I don't think he was hunting cats.

Unlike the other post you reffered to.

I read it as for some reason he had to put the cat out of it's misery. He was clearly upset about having to do it.

Shoot my dog and I shoot you. If you want something to shoot go walk around Allentown at night in a suit jacket. (-1 applied)

Acctually You're 100 percent wrong. If you refer to the digest on page 59 it CLEARLY states "If you shoot a dog that is not attacking a big game animal you could be subject to prosecution under the Crimes Code, may be required to defend your action in a court of law, and be liable for restitution to the owner"

You're an asshat.

My dogs are trained to run bunnies. Thats their job. You gonna shoot them for doing it? I'll tell you right here, you won't have to only answer to a court of law.

Get you head out of your ass, and start thinking about what you do and say.

I agree with P-11, I believe that the owner had to put the cat down. It did not sound like it was something that he enjoyed, but like an obligation. I believe it was in the hunting forum because it involved killing an animal. People that would have an idea of what bullets do to animal's bodies are typically hunters. I don't know how it is in PA, but I don't think there's exactly a "season" for hunting cats (feral or domestic), lol.

Tomcat,

You made me curious. It doesn't mention anything in the rules about cats. All it lists is this.

Protected Mammals: Wild mammals not classified furbearers or game animals.

Cats are neither.

Lol, this thread is kind of starting to remind me of a "feral cat hunting" thread on another forum that I frequent. There were some people that hated to see photos of dead kitties posted up. There were others that were talking about how big of a problem feral cats were in their area, and how they killed off all the other small species of birds, squirrels, etc. It was interesting to see different people's takes on killing kitties. Anyway, I don't think it's cool to knowingly kill someone's pet, but I'm sure it does happen sometimes. by the way, does Black Label refer to the whiskey, or BLS and their reference to the whiskey?

I AGREE WITH P-11.

If the dog or cat is not attacking you.... dont shoot it. You mentioned that these animals would be hunting Game...well 10 to 1 if said animals are hunting game they have been neglected and are just trying to survive like any other animal would, they need helped not shot.

Think before you speak and most importantly think before you shoot.
