Default Dove opens monday

Is anyone on the forum going to partake in Monday's opener? I know I'll be out and about!

* EDIT Forgot to add this link in case anyone wanted to know more about it

Yes sir, I am ready to go. I have 5 boxes of dove loads by my cabinet(although I know I won't shoot that many), and all my other gear is sitting by the door in my basement work room. I'm looking forward to a great dove season this year. I can't wait to get out there. The best part about it this year, it falls on labor day so I'll be off from work.

I will def. be out on monday! I love dove season because it gets me ready for the upcomin season for duck plus dove breasts are wonderful to eat! It's also a good time with friends. Where's everyone going? I live in the farmlands of Lancaster County so we have plenty of fields to hunt.

I normally hunt the chester water authority property around Octararo reservoir.....It sees some use during dove season but not enough to be a PIA. about a week into the season I am usually the only one parked on the side of the road. Deer season is a different story though. I usually don't go there then.

I will try to go out. But, I will use my old stevens 335 double with its volkswagon patterns. My itallian auto(I don't know the name of it.) was sold last month, and the10 is a little over powerful for greywings.....

I have permission to hunt on a private farm in the bethel area. There are swarms of the little things there.

Hi guys, I grew up hunting rabbit, squirrel, pheasant, and deer but never dove. I saw that you guys eat them? How do you typically prepare them? Do they taste good? I have had plenty of pheasant but never duck or dove. My son is only 9 but is very interested in hunting. I don't want his first experience to be freezing and bored, waiting for the elusive buck so I'm thinking that maybe that would be a fun start in better weather. I have a little single shot .410 that might be fun to use.

I normally sautee them in melted butter on a frying pan. I have also made a pot pie out of them. In my opinion they taste great but you need a few of them for a good meal. Also I think your son would find it exciting due to the fact you'll be shooting alot . I think this would be a great first time experience, and the weather for Monday looks marvelous!

*Edit : Heres a link showing how easy it is to Field dress them. The way I do this slightly differs from their method, as I do not cut their wings off. But most people find methods that work for them. The following link could be considered Graphic to some so tread careful.

Just make sure you're in a good flyway because like any hunting situation, pick the wrong spot and even a dove hunt could put Jr to sleep.

I made the mistake a few times of setting up in new areas that I didn't scout out, and although they looked promising, turned out to be Serta Perfect Sleepers, and within an hour the kids were bored and I was searching for a way out.
