Well so far the gophers are winning. I must state that I only use a Bow for hunting them so I do not disturb the horse farm behind my house. This year I am doing AWFUL. The current score is Gophers 12, me 0. It's like they have super powers this year I actually had an Arrow bounce off of one two weeks ago I wish I had a camera to film it to prove it happened. Yet I have all summer so hopefully I will prevail.

I'm up to 16 now, would have been 17, but I guess the third one that came out of the same hole decided it was best to stay in, as I only saw him for a second and didn't have time to pull one off. I have never seen three hogs come out of one hole before, let alone getting two of the ones that did! haha

only 6 for me i really havent been out much and when i am out i usually let my cousin or the new guy shoot. i'd rather teach a rookie to shoot 100- 150 than shoot that distance myself. so i don't shoot unless i'm over 150 or under 25. over 150 because its a bit of a challenge and under 25 so i can work on stalking skills. all chucks are shot with a 17 hmr and distances were between 15 and 195 yds

I trapped 4 with cage traps. Probably easier to set up and shoot them LOL, but I can't with these as they are living under buildings. Today this really stubborn one tripped the trap and wasn't inside it. Basically this is the last one to get for now, till these folks come back from their long vacation and see more and call me LOL. The farmer who rents the cropland removes the ones living in the fields. I can't use conibear traps at this place either- cats going under same buildings are a possibility.

Multiple groundhogs at a den are generally juveniles with momma, though my buddy who traps them by the hundreds every year has caught adults one after another from the same hole. He uses conibear traps in general, as he mostly does crop land removal, not many cats hang out in crop field groundhog holes. But he has caught the occasional possum, raccoon, and skunk, as well as a fox every so often.

one of my dads buddies was a landscaper and he'd havahart em and bring them to me i turn em loose in the field and when they thought they'd made it to freedom i let em have it with some 3" turkey shot. any way i'm up to nine now still a low # for me. and get this my chiropractor is making me take a break because i compacted a muscle in my back by laying in a hay field for 2 hrs waiting for this one hog who nevver showed in the prone position with the sitting bipod instead of the prone bipod. that little bastard is gonna get it now as soon as i can move again!!
