I believe you will find that nowadays this is rarely enforced. I've never written a citation for this. Just suggested they get a holder and display on a hat or vest. And around opening day, most stores run out of holders. I'm just haapy they have a license.

Some of the incidents cited go back 20 years. What is your point? Does this stuff happen today? Sure. Am I excusing it? NO. Did I say these incidents were few and far between? NO. Tell me what I'm missing. I didn't say anything you are alluding to me.

If you want to chastise me for something I've said, go for it and I'll take my lumps. If you want to give me grief for something I didn't say or imply, then we will have a discussion.

And there are bad apples on both sides. This is not an excuse for either side, it is just a fact. And I use the word "sides" very loosely, because we are all citizens of this state, Leo or not. No one should have a special privilidge. Did I say people should be treated like S**T? Did I agree with this?

What is this thread and forum about? I thought reasonable discussion was allowed, and even encouraged. Am I wrong?

Please don't put word's in my mouth. I'm not afraid to say what I think, and I don' need any help to do it .

As far as your interactions with the PGC, I did not try to make any excuses for them, only that the circumstances may or may not be exactly as presentented. One side of the story may not always be accurate. Are the tellers on this forum stretching the truth? Probably not. Could the reactions by the Leo's been more reasonable? Probably. But I wasn't there and neither were you, except for your personal encounters. Speaking up for your rights is commendable, and you should continue to do so . All that said, there is no reason to be treated with disrespect by anyone, and being in the right just makes the experience more delightful. Agreed? It's always best to speak up if you know you are right.
I merely responded to your post based on what I got out of what I read. Take it easy brother, I was not bashing you.......

No problem here either. I understand your position, and when I was a hunter I witnessed firsthand some really sad abuses of hunters.

Why do you think I deal with violations the way I do? I've learned from past experiences and try to treat everyone the way I would want to be treated were the positions reversed. Seems to work most of the time.

How do you figure it is a requirement? You can legally obtain a hunting license at age 12. Where you can't legally obtain a state issued id until your 16.

It's in the Hunting Regulations, pretty much the first para of the 'General Hunting Regulations':

Licenses Required: It is unlawful to hunt or trap wildlife without
first obtaining required hunting or furtaker licenses. While afield, in
addition to their license, sportsmen are required to have in their pos-
session additional cards or papers that must be shown to an officer or
landowner upon request to confirm identification.

And no - we didn't know that either.

It's the law. Any cards or papers will suffice. A state issued ID is not required.
School ID, library card, Social Security card, etc. should suffice. A photocopy of any should work since "papers" is not defined. Just a personal opinion.

The warden who stopped us specifically said you could use a photocopy, or a previously-expired driver's license for this purpose (nobody wants to take a current ID into the field with them for obvious reasons)
