Default Wild hog hunting in PA?

I was doing some net research on hunting wild hogs and came across this:

http://www.extension.org/news/110

I'm hoping to start hog hunting in the next year or two and was expecting to have to travel to Ohio and down South, but maybe I don't. Anyone know of any places for wild hog in PA that isn't a private reserve?

Actually, your best bet is to hunt the areas around a preserve. In the Hunting Regulations book it mentions wild hogs and says while they aren't considered wild game (domestic animals because they're pigs) The PGC says you are more than welcome to harvest them... Try around Tioga, PA...

I don't know anywhere in PA that has hog hunting that isn't a preserve.

There is also a retired PGC guy named Stephen Mohr that does this on an island in Lancaster Co.

We have lot's of wild hogs in Bedford County. Russian Boar with mean teef. You can use a bazooka on them if you have one. 8 killed this year near my home. One had no ear tag and went 275 lbs.

You wanna kill one? Contact me.

That sounds like a good time... It'll give me a reason to use those 220 grs. I bought for bear season. Only time I shot them through the 30.06 was at the range...

Thumbs up Re: Wild hog hunting in PA?

Wild piggies is my second favorite hunt behind groundhog. I'd love to hunt them again without having to travel to my parents home in Florida.

I'd be interested in a hunt late spring to early fall if anyone knows of some landowners that need a few culled.

.....got 45-70, will travel. (once I get some more vacation time).

I'd say 30-30 power level or greater.

I used to use a Win Mod 94 30-30 in FL. Most of the time only one shot was required. ....but then there were other hogs that didn't want to stop after 3-4 hits with it, plus a couple 357mag, until my friend hit it with a 20ga slug.

Wild hogs can be some hard critters to put down at times. Some can take some abuse can keep on trucking.

A 30 cal or greater hunting rifle with bullets designed for some good penetration is recommended.

And these are out of the realm of the game commission enough to use a semi on them? Or am I mistaken there.
