Default anyone get their gobbler yet?

anyone get their gobbler during the opening weekend? a group of us went to a 'promising area' based upon one of us harvesting birds the last two years...seems the critters decided to climb a different part of that mountain this year; I called several times without a single response; 2 of our group that were lower on the hill were getting eaten alive by skeeters near the creek and decided to pack it in early;

I think that the group is now split since the 2 of us that left early decided to try the private land where the hunting camp goes for deer...hopefully we'll have better results this coming weekend; I hope that all of us can get back together and try the 'promised' land again & see some birds so we don't abandon the area all together

I did 10 minutes before 1200. I had eight big boys about 200yards out, took 3 hours of calling to get them in to about 10 yards. Seven walked away! I have not been hearing many people bagging birds this year.

Had one ansmering for 1 1/2 hours on Sat. but he never came closer than 100 yds. He was henned up and I couldn't coax him away from em'. A friend of mine got him yesterday morning, he had been roosting over by his house. Didn't hear how big he was, will find out tonight as we knock back a few cold ones.

Had four people come in to FCO and tell me they shot but did not get their tom; either missed or didn't hit them hard enough. WTF?

This morning was the first chance I had to get out. My partner had one in his sights at 0645 when it suddenly took off. There were two hunters coming down the trail on posted private property. Claimed they were lost in Bucks county?? We had another gobble from 8:15 to 8:45 but he continued past us into the open horse field to feed. We moved to a different area where we heard another around 1045 but couldn't get him to come in.

Not yet,but not for lack of trying. First day my friend and I had 6 big longbeards between us, the problem was we were at opposite sides of a really big field[meaning the birds were at least 150 yards from each of us] and they had so many hens around them we could'nt call them in,really gets frustrating watching them jumping hens and fanning and sruttin and they wont come close. This past thursday I got out around 9:30 did'nt hear a thing, my friend says he saw 2 gobblers in that field at 6:30 when he went to work! My luck, they were long gone before I got there!This past saturday heard some gobbles in the distance but could'nt bring anything in. Gonna try again this friday and saturday and hope to do better.

Yes I Did! first turkey ever! 21lb tom with a 10 inch beard and a 6 inch beard 3/4 inch spurs. I heard a gobble while i was out in the field and i sprinted down to the woods and set up quick while my dad just laid down in the tall grass and started calling. Two hens walked up a path right to me and this tom was close behind I shot the tom and the hens were ten feet from me. Talk about a rapid heart beat! How can you not enjoy hunting. 8 30 in the morning
