Default How far away is Saturday!

Everybody fired up for Saturday?......I can hardly sleep. Started putting my pack together tonight for the drive to my killing grounds in Wampum!......still can't decide if I'm going gun or bow........oh the insanity of desicion making!...I'll probably take both and flip a quarter Friday nigh before hitting the rack!

Good huntin to all of you this weekend....may you hear thunderous gobbles and find many inches of beard and spur!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was out this past Saturday. If you don't have your own kid like we do, borrow a neighbor's kid and take 'em hunting as a mentor

We didn't see anything. Heard 'em off in the distance. Picked the wrong spot, I reckon Still, a great, great day in the woods with wife and the boy, as they just about always are.

I've promised Sean that first shot this season goes to him... This is my first turkey hunting season, so I'm hoping I can put him on one.

Tried to get my step son into hunting.....but no go. My 3yo has a few years to go. My daughters are only with me in the summer. Sounds like a great day for you...

Stick with it. Turkey is a bit frustrating at first...but very addictive!

Friends daughter nailed a 22 1/4 lb 1.5 spurs 10.5 beard Saturday. He came in quiet to decs after gobbling from the roost.

No matter how many times I hear that gobble...it still gets me fired up!

Good luck to you!

Good luck to you guys.

My kid and his two buddies were shooting hoops in the back yard.

One of the 8 to 10 turkeys I see pretty regularly walked within 15 yds of these guys, crapped on the concrete drive and walked off.

The one kid is a hunter and just couldn't believe it. I saw him walking his dog behind my house and he commented on seeing a bird back there with a 7 or 8 inch beard.

I think they like me. I have them fooled as to how nice a guy I am. The 7 deer I saw 25 yds away yesterday think so too. My property abuts a fairly affluent community and these animals seem to have developed a sense of security since the new owner posted his property along my fenceline 2 years ago. I harvested quite a few deer within 400 yds of my house over the last 15 yr.

Once again, Good luck. Be safe. Shoot straight.

gobblers in the woods...gobblers in the magazines...gobblers on TV...gobblers on the brain...can't wait either...first time ever going out for one...4 of us going...after the first shot, the rest of the group will be SOL since these birds are smart and won't stick around! we might relocate to another area to give others a chance, but we better be quick since PA only allows hunting in the morning

If you are paired up with another buddy and either of you shoot one, with others with it or nearby, just sit still as the first dies. You's be surprised how often the other(s) will stick around and give another shot.

I have been seeing fanned Toms all over the place here while driving. I have a wedding to go to out of town Saturday, but I will get out a few times later in the season.

The problem with later in the season is that those strutting Toms may be henned up by then.

Off to work I go in my freaking corporate America outfit of suit and tie in my spiffy company car....but, the truck is packed and I will be home early to drive off to those happy killing grounds of Wampum PA!

Still have not decided if I'm going Bow or Gun...packed both! I'll flip a coin when I get there!

Good luck to every one in the AM!

Default Re: How far away is Saturday!

I'm heading to a job interview in 10 minutes. After that, I've got to pack up my stuff to head to camp in Bradford county.

I haven't even had time to think about the upcoming season lately. The job search and a new vehicle search and projects at work have been killing me.

It's going to be a good weekend no matter what though!

Good luck to all you guys.

addendum to my original post...

recently drove up to visit a sick relative & I cut thru back roads & Ft. Indiantown Gap to avoid the highway...there is a field by the southern entrance to the Gap where I spotted a small flock of @ 8 - 10 feeding...that was a few weeks ago & my case of gobbler fever has been building ever since; uuuggghhh...less than 24 hours left...why is the clock taunting me and running backwards...why?!? why?!? why?!?
