The PGC should go back to the 2 week buck season w/ the current antler restrictions & the 3 day anterless season after the buck season. Just let the Junior hunter take anterless in both seasons. If we keep killing all these doe, there's not gonna be much intrust for junior hunters.I think the PGC gets alot of influence from timber & insurance company.Maybe they should go hit them up for some funds. Just my 2 cents.

This is the reason for some of the SGL ranges closing.
The ranges were closed for lead remediation. Since reopened with safety improvements as well.

I really don't believe the Insurance companies have any influence over the HR issue. I do believe the DCNR along with the foresters are a driving factor behind the HR plan.

I'm against any license increase.

Why should hunters be the only ones that get "charged" to use the land? What about people that only use the shooting ranges, bird watch, hike, etc? Why not have a $5 or $10 per year Game Land Usage License? If you want to hunt, it's already part of the cost of your $20 license.

With as much open disgust as they have been receiving lately regarding the deer management program, I'm a bit surprised that they have the balls to propose a license fee increase. They should be trying to "make nice" with their revenue source.

I think they did try to "make nice" by cutting the doe season in the 4 wmu's. It's been said by the PGC. "It's not the number of days, it's the number of tags that controls the harvest. Cutting back the doe season by 5 days will not decrease the harvest nor relieve the pressure, if the tag allottment is not cut back. JMO

The PGC is influenced by the insuance companys if you visit the PGC web site go to deer management section its in one of 3 goals to deer management.I was at the Eastern Sportmen Show in Harrisburg this past week and stop by the Unified Sportmen of Pa. booth and pick up some info that was very enlightening to whats going on between the PGC & the DCNR. I will be joining this group of grassroots sportsmen, I believe that we need to get both of these commissions under control and have more input from sportsmen. If we keep going down this road we will lose our deer hunting heritage.

Respectfully,

What have you heard the foresters saying about the deer herd? I'm not trying to stir the pot but on the other hand I'd like to hear some reasons.

As for the license increase? it seems like what the PGC is seeing is to keep X$ coming in with less hunters, the $ per person has to go up. Basically its a large organization, unless you're another large organization (Unified Sportsmans) they (the PGC) really don't care what you have to say.

I agree with you except when the doe season was 3 days it was not in buck season and therefore not as many tags were filled. Huge difference

I know I'm going to piss people off, but I think a license increase is a great idea. I pay alot more for a fishing license, trout/erie stamp than I do for a hunting license, and I can get a lot more meat hunting. Pheasant stockings have been dropping because they can't afford it. I think that sucks. Deer populations are dropping. This years buck harvest was down 19% from last year. that sucks. If the prices go up, especially for out of state hunters, who hunt here cheaper than in their own state, so what. Less hunters means rebounding game populations (I know there's more variables, but that's a biggie).

How many people go to the range and blow through $50 in ammo in 1 day. $50, that's 1 dinner out with the wife and kid. For $47 I get my license, archery, migratory game bird, doe tag, and anywhere from 80-200 hours of fun in the woods. That's one heck of a bargain, and still will be after an increase. Heck, it costs me that much in gas just to drive to camp!
