Usually if I ever make it out, my Glenfield scoped .22, but I've used my Mossy Ultimag a few times....

Used my .243 one day while hunting G-hogs....not a good option of you wanna eat the little tree rat, though......there wasn't much left.....

definitely .22 cal - cheap, effective, and not overkill in tearing up lawn/tree/etc.

really depends..

If I'm going where there are alot of tree rats up high - I take the 12ga.

If they are on the ground - either the 12ga or 22rf.

If they are in my yard/garden in town - subsonic 22rf from within my kitchen window firing thru my handy "noise box"(not attached to gun).

Most fun-.22 rifle, most effective for running or sitting shots 20ga #5 shot.

I got a nice little 20 ga side-by-side. The second barrel is for the one that comes running from the other side of the tree when the first one falls.

im a big fan of the 22mag myself but 22 does the job just fine

i hate using shotguns on squirrels no one likes biting into shot
